Hello thrift lovers everywhere! I had a wonderful mother's day with my son last Sunday, we went out to brunch, then the movies (Dark Shadows, really good!) and we even had time to stop at an estate sale! My son and my husband gifted me a new camera, I am elated! I had been working with a small point and shoot camera since February, when I lost my SLR.
I tried to slow my thrift-breaks this week as I have a lot of inventory to list. I want to list most of my finds before going on vacation. I will be in Colombia for six weeks and my husband will be in charge of shipping all the sales while I am away. I won't be thrifting, but I will try to keep up with treasuries, blog posts, etc. Here are some of my finds.
A beautiful ice bucket made of textured glass. It is marked Hoya stainless steel. I found a similar item that is still produced, slight differences on the vintage model are the brown pivots to the handle as well as a faux leather strap around the top of the handle. This was purchased at an estate sale.
At the same estate sale I found three of the nice Dansk paperweights. I have never found them before in the wild, so I am a happy thrifter. I will list them together.
I always pick retro barware as it does really well in the store. I found these at a garage sale in the area, I usually don't find much for the store at garage sales, but once in a while there is something worth driving all over town. This is a set of six glasses in very good vintage condition.
I have tried to give you a scale reference with the small bird posing next to the darling and large Dala horse. This is the largest I have seen at 10" high. I saw it on the preview pictures of an estate sale, and I had to have it! I might get it together with all the other ones I have found before and sell them as a big family. I think they will look great displayed as a group.
My second Flora bowl, this was a thrift store find! I was surprised to find it, as it seems that my local GW is being picked all the time. I guess I will just have to go often to try and outsmart my competition, right?
And these? Can you believe these? I think I am in love. Only a pair found at the same estate sale as the horse. Blenko crackle amberina dimpled tumblers if you were wondering what they are. They feel so nice and heavy on the hand, and look at them! They are gorgeous! I am going to have a hard time listing them.

ReplyDeleteI'm not leaving yet, but I am getting ready for the trip.
DeleteTotally fabulous finds!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI'm in love the paperweights also. And the Flora bowl, someday I will find one! :) Six weeks away, wow! Enjoy your time there. Maybe you can tweet some photos?
ReplyDeleteI will try and tweet, but I won't have internet access all the time, only while visiting mom.
DeleteAlways impressed. Such beautiful finds. You have such an eye! I was just having a little peruse through your etsy store and noticed you have a Midwinter Stonehenge 'Sun' set!! I love the entire Stonehenge range! I recently posted about it: http://opeshopehope.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/midwinter-stoneware.html
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Colombia! Six weeks!? Lucky you.
Thank you, you are sweet. I visited your blog and the post about midwinter includes one of my pieces, funny!
DeleteI love the ice bucket, and of course the Flora bowl is one of my favorites. I'm a huge Oiva Toikka fan.
ReplyDeleteI love the flora bowl too, but I can't justify keeping it. I wish I had a huge house with lots of display areas.
DeleteWow! Beautiful finds. I love the Dala horse family & the Blenko tumbles are spectacular! Have a wonderful trip!
ReplyDeleteThanks. My two favorites as well.
DeleteYour finds are GOLD! Loving the blenko!

ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. I won't be going soon, just getting ready.
DeleteI love those paperweights - especially the hippo! Those tumblers are gorgeous too. Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteAren't they cute? Lots of hippos finding their way to my store lately.
