We are in Georgia visiting family and enjoying every minute of it. We arrived Tuesday and my husband will arrive next Monday, just in time to celebrate Christmas together.
Our relatives like to thrift too and yesterday we went to the thrifts together. I had already tried to pick an antique mall nearby, but I couldn't find much of anything. The only thing that I found was incomplete and overpriced! Thankfully our luck was better yesterday.
I found the beautiful Hudson's Bay 4 point blanket at a Salvation Army for a steal and on top of that it was half off!!! Bucket List item checked! Other items include a Sony Dream Machine, a handsome tensor lamp, my first Arkipelago candle holder, and a fabulous travertine and stainless steel ashtray - I gave up on my no-ashtray rule a long time ago...
My nephew is developing a taste for the art bin, and he also had a great day. Look at the beautiful Corita Kent poster that he found:
I am very pleased with my finds this week, and I already have some plans for the blanket. What do you think of this?

Is this right or wrong? I love the look of it, and I think that repurposing a blanket this way gives it a long life. I usually do not like when beautiful design gets up-cycled or repurposed, but this? This I love! Will you tell me what you think?
I forgot to take a good picture of my Thriftbreak Secret Santa gift, but I have the quick snapshot that I took the night that we got together on twitter to share our gifts. Here it is:
Isn't it precious? I love Palatnik and my very thoughtful SS (Chelsea of Bergen House) generously sent this little one my way to join others in my collection. Now I really have to do a NFS post about Palatnik!
This is all for this week, have a happy holiday season and I will see you here again after vacation. My store is closed and I might or might not post on this blog before the end of the year. Sharing this week with A Living Space, Sir Thrift a Lot and Apron Thrift Girl.

I'm surprised you found all that in GA! The blanket is a great find. Do you think it would wear well as upholstery though? You lucky dog-Palatnik!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am as surprised as you are. I haven't had as much luck since. I will try the blanket and see if it works out.
DeleteI am STUNNED. I was just talking with a friend about how I've never seen a Hudson Bay in person and I ALWAYS check (North Atlanta girl, here). So jealous!
Deletewow, I would love to find a blanket like that. i love the upcycling idea, but i would also be concerned about how the wool would wear over time.
ReplyDeleteI will report on how the wool wears with time. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
DeleteYou have quite the Palatnik collection going now I think. Love to see a photo of them all
ReplyDeleteArkipelago piece is great. As they get bigger they impress even more. I have found two (big, middle triangle version) and I am in love.
I know I owe you a picture of the S Brastoff egg. I did post it on CW.
Merry Christmas!
I plan to do a NFS post on Palatnik soon, and of course I will showcase my own collection. Looking forward to finding more arkipelago as one is just a teaser, right?
DeleteCW? help me out with a link, will you?
Nice finds! That blanket is on my bucket list too! Definitely looking forward to seeing your Palatnik collection.
