Hello friends,
I have been busy with family, fun trips, and sales, yet I have not stopped thrifting! I thrift on the go and I just keep accumulating inventory! I need an intervention!
This week's post showcases finds from the last 3 weeks. Some great finds for sure, but they do not come easy. Many times I come home empty handed after visiting 4 or 5 thrifts. Estate sales can also be a thrift bust, but the rare good finds keep me going!
These two kinetic sculptures are one of my favorite finds. A while back I found a colorful Laurids Lonborg one that sold well on Ebay, these were made by Scandia Design in Hellerup, Denmark. Gorgeous whimsical sculptures.
Today's stop at the antique's market (cold and rainy morning) rewarded me with this GORGEOUS and large Timo Sarpaneva Jääpuikko - Icicle vase. Deep cobalt blue glass encased in clear glass. Signed. It sits 11 1/2" tall! I have been searching for comparable ones with very few examples available. This is one of the best finds I have had so far! Sitting pretty next to the bird vase is a Blenko 6424 bud vase in what I believe to be Ice Blue. Glass is my favorite thing to find as there are not that many people willing to do the research to ID a piece.
Another Landert fondue pot, this is the third one that I find. Customers love these and I am happy to pick them up every time. A German smoker and a sweet kokeshi doll were found in the Bay Area this past week (small and light, perfect for the traveling thrifter)
Other finds from my trip include a Bennington pottery cream and sugar set, an enamel plate and a ceramic bud base (great graphics on both)
I promise I will try to post every week from now on. Life happens. Sharing this week with A Living Space, Remnant, Sir Thrift a Lot and Young Heart.

Oh my gosh, such good finds! Those kinetic sculptures are nuts (in a good way), and the Cathrineholm, the Dansk! Chris has been wanting one of those little Kobenstyle pans with the wrapping around the handle for awhile now, it would be awesome to find one in the wild.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julia. The little kobenstyle pan is a first for me. Yours will come soon enough.
DeleteAwesome finds! The kinetic sculptures are wonderful
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteFantastic finds - i can't believe you found TWO of the kinetic sculptures. And the Sarpaneva bird vase is great too.. i know it does not come easy, most of the time I'm just happy to find anything.
ReplyDeleteOh, the kokeshi is cool - that's the style linda likes! Also, the ceramic bud vase - I found that same one (I think) in blue and yellow. I had it for ages on etsy, but I took it off recently. Never could figure out maker, is yours marked?
Thank you Bryan. You and I know how hard it is, but it is good when it happens, right?
DeleteLovely finds. I have a real soft spot for Sarpaneva, and that is a beautiful example.
ReplyDeleteI thought of you when I found it :)
DeleteAbsolutely stunning finds! I don't know how you do it -- such an eye.The kinetic sculptures are my favorite.

ReplyDeleteI can't stop from picking the kokeshi dolls. I love them and customers love them too. Thanks.
DeleteYou always find such amazing stuff!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. There are good days and there are bad ones. I share the good ones :)
DeleteI always have bad days when I've tried to thrift and I guess that is why I have never gotten in to it. But I love to see what other people find! The kinetic sculptures are great!
ReplyDeleteIt takes a lot of persistence, but the good days are awesome.
DeleteLove all the enamel ware! You are so lucky to find Cathrineholm!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Astrid. I used to think that it was impossible, but it is still out there!
