This thing that I love -thrifting- is not a self contained phenomenon, thanks to the internet and twitter I can share it with other like minded nerds :)
So many of you have made my day with a witty comment or with help with an ID of a mystery object. Every day I am gifted by my thriftbreak friends' generosity as well. But all the good doesn't stop with the words, the likes, the repins, the favorites. My people are generous beyond belief!
Case in point my blog friend Heather from Tatter and Fray, who recently posted about her very mod thrift find of a stone lion. I took one look at it and I was in love. It reminded me so much of a little stone carved lion that mom had and that now lives with me. I immediately left Heather a message telling her that if she was going to sell I wanted to buy the mighty beast.
Heather graciously replied telling me that I could have it! Just like that! A gift without any strings attached. I got Heather's package yesterday and I was surprised by its size and weigh. When I opened the box, out came a very LARGE lion! I had only seen one picture of it and I've assumed that it had to be about the same size as mom's. Well, I was pleasantly surprised.
Here they are, keeping each other company in their imperfect beauty (both of them have chips)
Beautiful, right? I don't know anything about them, I just adore them. Let me know in the comments if you have any information about these figurines.
Thanks Heather! You are the best!

I'm afraid I don't know anything about these, but oh boy, they're so gorgeous! What an amazing gift, it's so great to hear such stories, it really strengthens my belief in the goodness of people:-) They look amazing together! Wish you the greatest weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post, Beatriz! I'm so happy he's found a new home with you. The little lion is adorable too, and I love their matching chips! (Is that the IKEA Jongerius vase behind them? One of my faves.) And I agree; I'm so thankful for all of the funny and kind people I've met through blogging - you all are the best part of the blogging experience for me.
